As a potential customer, I am contacting you to let you know how troubled I am by your sponsorship of the extremely raunchy new ABC show “Don’t Trust the B---- in Apt. 23.”
The offensiveness begins with the derogatory reference to women in the title, but it certainly doesn’t end there. “Don’t Trust the B---- in Apt. 23” is a program that regularly pollutes hearts and minds – a show promoting illicit sexuality and filled with vulgar dialog and crude sexual references. And as these immoral and sexually deviant behaviors permeate the cultural waters in which we all swim, our children and families are the ones who especially pay the price.
There are many attacks upon the family today. Every now and then opportunities arise for each of us, whether as individuals or corporations, to stand up for families and against the destructive influences that contribute to the erosion of the American culture.
As an advertiser, you know full well the persuasive power of images and verbiage in influencing behavior. And so I urge you to recognize the degrading impact of shows such as “Don’t Trust the B---- in Apt. 23” and withdraw your corporate sponsorship from this show.
In making your advertising selections, instead of aligning with the sexually explicit and the vulgar, we urge you to instead empower that which uplifts and builds stronger American families.
