Dear President O’Connell:
The beautiful thing about the United States is that every human, regardless of their race, religion, gender, etc. are ensured the same rights, including the freedom of speech.
Our government reinforces these natural human rights in its founding document, the Constitution, the very document which members of your student body attempted to distribute for the purpose of educating their classmates on those exact rights.
Perhaps if school leadership better understood the document they tried to silence, they would understand that the right to Free Speech is not something which a person must ask the Student Life office for. It’s an inherent right, with the full force of the United States government standing in its defense.
