I’m writing to express my great concern and alarm at the proposed “State Board of Education Statement and Guidance on Safe and Supportive Learning Environments for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning (LGBTQ) Students”.
Not only does this policy statement undermine parental rights and authority regarding the welfare of their children, but it also puts at risk all public school students.
This policy suggests schools should deceive parents as to their child’s gender confusion and would allow children of any age to make life-altering decisions that have immense ramifications - without parental knowledge or counsel.
In addition, this guidance policy undermines the rights and safety of students who may be forced against their will to share locker rooms and bathrooms with those of the opposite sex. Not only will this contribute to the loss of innocence of children, but also heightens the risk of sexual assault.
Those who struggle with gender identity issues need our compassion and care, but pushing a social agenda upon vulnerable children is not the way to help them with their struggles.
I strongly urge you to rescind this troubling guidance policy which smacks of social engineering, puts children at risk, and usurps parental responsibility to guide and protect their children.
