As a corporation that has chosen to sponsor the Fox show “Glee”, I’m writing to alert you to the up-coming sex-themed episode of Glee entitled “The First Time” which will air, Tuesday, November 8.
This episode will irresponsibly depict illicit sexuality, featuring two gay teens having sex, as well as a heterosexual couple of minor high school students having sex for the first time.
Instead of offering positive role models for its millions of young viewers, Glee teaches teens a course in promiscuous, illicit sexuality, filled with damaging messages which give young people the false view that casual sex is meaningless and harmless. Our youth are paying the physical and emotional price of these lies.
As a consumer, I desire to support companies that are not actively working to oppose my value system. The television program a company chooses to advertise on speaks volumes as to whether or not I choose to buy that product or patronize that business.
And so as a potential customer, I am contacting you to strongly urge you not to advertise on this upcoming episode of Glee on Tuesday, November 8 entitled “The First Time.”
The corporations who choose to put profit ahead of the damaging messages sent to our youth will lose my business. I will also encourage my friends and family not to do business with the sponsors of this episode of Glee.
I will be following this concern and look forward to your response.
