One of the most iconic candies in American history has been Hershey chocolate. Your chocolate bars were a coveted treat for World War II soldiers and Hershey chocolate syrup has topped ice cream sundaes for millions of American families. However, Hershey Park’s decision to put the comfort of a few over the safety of many has made me reconsider my patronage of not only of your amusement park, but of your candy as well.
Having mixed sex restrooms in an amusement park that caters to families is a recipe for disaster. Yet in essence that is what your policy will do as you allow people to choose restrooms based on their so-called gender identity and not anatomy.
Your quest to be “inclusive,” puts my family at risk! Why is it better to force young girls to be scared and uncomfortable going to the restroom, than it is to require a very small population of those who identify as transgender to use the restroom according to their sex? The issue is not about discrimination – it’s about privacy and safety. Your policy gives sexual predators free access to places where women and girls should expect to have privacy.
Because you have chosen to put your agenda ahead of my family’s safety, Hershey will no longer be a trusted name for my family.
