I appreciated your letter you faxed me. I was aware that our company was running ads on WNCX-FM in Cleveland but had no idea that any of those spots were running during Mr. Sterns repulsive show. Upon receiving your letter I ordered a copy of our air times and found that not 1 but on average 3 spots were running each of our days on air! I have contacted the account executive and demanded that we be credited for airing our companies name during a program that Mr. Stern airs. I have yet to hear the results but the ultimatum is, total compensation for the spots or a discontinuation of business with the radio station permanently.

Thank you for helping to rid our airwaves from people who have a blatant disrespect for humanity and decency and for the "heads up" to help me from having any association with a person of this nature.

Thanks for your letter of March 16, 2001, sent to the attention of ...., president.   .....  has asked that I respond to your letter.
I followed up with our franchisee in the Madison area and found out that our radio ad had run in the Howard Stern Show.  Our franchisee buys time on WTLX because of its sports talk show, which effectively reaches consumers in our target demographics.
  I explained to him that we don't want to run our ads in the Howard Stern Show, which we also don't think fits our brand image.  Our franchisee understood and agreed with our position and will not plan to buy spots in that program in the future.  The spots that ran in the Howard Stern Show were part of his overall buy and represented a small part of the total.

We advertise in television markets all over the country and do not buy the Howard Stern show anywhere.  I was forwarded an E-mail regarding a March 17th airing on in Dallas. If that happened it was somehow done on the local level without our knowledge. Good luck in your campaign.

We received your memo the other day concerning programming on the Howard Stern Talk Show.

We did run a week long thank you to our customers from December 18-25 last year. Apparently the radio station slipped this message into a slot occupied by the Stern program when we informed them that this show was off limits. We never had any intention of running the message during Howard Stern. We make a conscious effort to avoid programming with any kind of adverse message. Time on this particular radio station will not be purchased again.

  .... has a strict policy not to purchase Howard Stern as we feel the content of that show does not align with our standards of quality programming, nor does it deliver against our core target of moms with kids.  The fact that our spots have run on the Howard Stern show several times recently is the mistake of two radio networks that we purchase, although they have received written direction from .... not to run in Howard Stern programming.
  Please know that we are taking swift and immediate action to ensure that this does not happen in the future, even if we have to avoid purchasing particular radio networks altogether that carry Howard Stern. This lack of professionalism will not be tolerated.

Gentlemen:

It has come to my attention that WBZX carries the Howard Stern show during the Monday-Friday drive time.  This was not something that I was aware of when our ad agency identified your station as one that met our demographic profile in the Columbus market.

Of even greater concern is that our target audience is supposed to be the youth market.   The obvious conclusion is that the filth that is regular fare on his show is being directed to our teenagers.

Although we will fulfill our current contractual and promotional obligations, we will review further relationships based on the aforementioned.

     Upon receiving your letter in reference to our recruitment ads on WQKA, I checked with the person responsible for purchasing our radio advertising.   Since we do not normally advertise on that station, we were not aware that we were advertising during the Howard Stern Show; we simply understood that the station reaches our target audience.
   Since we hold our ethical standards in high regard, from now on we will not air our commercials during that time frame on that station.
