Email #1:  Another expression of concern regarding Walmart and their sale of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition

Thank you Bill for the good reminder for us to “hang in there” in our little corners to continue to make a stand for decency.  I just finished a letter I wrote today to the Walmart manager where I shop regularly to express my concerns about the Sports Illustrated magazine being put at the checkout lanes in his store – at the eye level of an elementary school age child.  (Continue Reading…)

We received an email regarding our concern about Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition from a fellow yesterday.  It isn’t unlike others that we occasionally see but which we know represents the thinking of others lost in darkness.  It reads as follows:

Get a life! At my local Publix, when I see that they have covered up magazines with “scantily clad” women on them, I remove the shields and put them over the National Enquirer or Star magazines. Magazines much more toxic (to the mind) than the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition.

Sports Illustrated Swimsuit at Walgreens

Recently,  my wife made a shopping visit at Walgreens.  She was disappointed to find they were carrying the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition.

She expressed her concern and told them she wouldn’t be doing any business with them as long as they carried that magazine.

I checked a couple of weeks later. The magazine, though less obvious, was still being sold.  I spoke with an assistant manager.  I presented her with the following letter and an informational brochure. (Continue Reading…)
