Opposing sexualized magazines at the checkout counter is one of the battles this ministry has taken on over the years. As we’ve often said, we and our families should be able to wait in a checkout lane at a family supermarket without being assaulted with erotic images and verbiage on magazine covers.
Of course the worst offender is Cosmopolitan magazine. Cosmo is notorious for splashing lewd headlines and photos on their magazine covers. The current magazine has titles such as:

Are you dumbed down? Does pornography not victimize? Is pornography not addictive? Is the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit not pornography?
I know it’s not politically correct to say that pornography is lust producing and that lust is sin and that thinking lustful thoughts is contrary to God’s law. Lust is called adultery by Jesus Christ. [Matthew 5:28] What a privilege to be able to speak truth and this is truth! The warning goes out again today!

I have often said if we don’t win the battle against indecency/pornography at the checkout counter where can we win it! It has been my view that with all the money that we spend at our local grocery store we should have some measure of clout. Show the manager your shopping receipt from the last couple of weeks. Then urge the manager to at the least put covers over the Cosmopolitan types of magazines.
I received this letter from a supporter of this ministry yesterday. A person caring so much for the impressionability of children that they want to remove magazines bearing erotic messages and images from their eyes at the checkout!
