Lowes and their errant response letter

Our take action links to email Lowe’s over their advertising practices has generated some of the greatest response we have yet seen with our action email feature. Lowe’s had advertised on ABC’s new programs: “The Gates” and “Scoundrels.” Both of these programs feature lascivious sex scenes and normalization of the occult and crime.
As Lowe’s began to receive our expressions of concern regarding advertising on those particular shows, they sent an email response to us directly that startled us. Their response letter stated nothing about their advertising support on “The Gates” and “Scoundrels,” but rather brought up FOX News, mentioning that they would not advertise on programs like The Glenn Beck Show and the O’Reilly Factor.
We double and triple checked to make sure that that the concerning email in fact came from Lowe’s. Much to our surprise it did.
We were troubled that Lowe’s saw fit to stay clear of Fox News shows like The Glenn Beck Show and the O’Reilly Factor. We knew you would be, too. We let you know via our email alert and by way of our web page.
Two days ago we received a telephone call from the Vice President of Corporate Communications for Lowe’s and found them to be very apologetic acknowledging that that email was an email response that Lowes used 18 months ago or so.
In reviewing their overall advertising record and in having received an email communication from our AFA friends, we were persuaded that Lowe’s is sincere in their apology.
The Lowe’s Vice President of Corporate Communications stated that they are not currently advertising on “Scoundrels” or “The Gates.” The Lowe’s VP also acknowledge they typically avoid talk shows/news shows.
I initially was reticent in sending this email. However, I felt that it was only fair to you to hear what has transpired in recent days so that you can best decide what your response should be. Some of you cut up your Lowe’s credit card and have taken very strong stands. Whether you want to temper this reaction is, of course, totally up to you.
