About Us

Bill Johnson is a nationally noted pro-decency activist. He has been interviewed on radio and television programs including CNN’s Newsstand, Fox News’ Neil Cavuto Show, MSNBC’s Buchanan and Press and many others. In 2000, he received the prestigious Salt and Light Award from Dr. D. James Kennedy and the Center for Reclaiming America for the ADA’s efforts against radio indecency. Prior to his career in ministry, Bill taught the second, third, and fourth grades for 18 years. In 1985, while still a teacher, he felt a special calling of the Lord to help lead a local organization, Citizens Against Pornography. Bill left teaching in 1988 to become the American Family Association’s first named state director, a position he held until founding the ADA in 1999. Bill is devoted to uplifting the message of personal holiness, God’s desire for His people. He has been married for 39 years to Janna and is the father of four children and a grandfather of five.

Jeff is the Vice President of American Decency Association. Jeff has been a board member since 1998.  Jeff owns and operates a thriving computer business in the greater Grand Rapids area, where he lives with his wife and 3 children.  Jeff is a member of a local church. Jeff was formerly an active member of the AFA of Greater Grand Rapids.

Lisa has been the Executive Assistant of the American Decency Association since 1997.  She has been a board member since 1990.  Before coming to the ADA, Lisa taught elementary children in the Fremont Public Schools for eleven years.   Lisa was on staff with the AFA of Michigan between 1997 and 1999.   She is an active member of  a local church.

Becky is the secretary of the board and has been a board member since 1999. Becky was a doctor of veterinary medicine. She and her husband and three children live in the greater Grand Rapids and is a member of a local church.

Steve joined our board in the March of 2004. He is the founder and president of Liberty Financial Planning. He is also an author, teacher, and conference speaker on various family and financial topics. He lives in the Ann Arbor area with his wife and 5 children.Steve also runs several small ministries including Civil War Dads.  You can learn more about Steve at civilwardads.com.

Fay has been a board member since 1992. Fay is our most active fundraiser. She is a mother and grandmother. Fay and her husband Alick reside in the greater Lansing, Michigan area. Formerly, Fay was an active member of the Greater Lansing American Family Association.

Steve has been a board member since June 2009.  This is Steve’s second stint in this capacity.   Steve is formerly from Michigan but has resided in Florida for the last several years.  He heads a company called American Family Online.   Steve and his wife live in the panhandle of Florida.   Steve is a parent and grandparent.   He is an active member of his local church.

JoAnn is the wife of a retired pastor in the Christian Reformed Church and a board member since 1992.  She is an activist leader in a Grand Rapids area hospital.  She is a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.   She is a member of a local church. JoAnn was formerly an active member of the Greater Grand Rapids American Family Association.
